BETHEL — Officials from Bethel, Greenwood and Newry met Thursday night in Bethel to figure out if they should pursue a regional approach toward regulating wind power projects, or have planners in each town draft an ordinance.

“It was a pretty productive meeting,” Bethel Town Manager James Doar said Friday. “There will probably be a broader committee made up of the different towns, with three officials from each town.”

Doar organized the meeting and invited Hanover and Woodstock officials as well, but said they didn’t contact him.

After the session, Doar said officials from each town decided they want their own wind power ordinance. Bethel will seek direction from the Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments in Auburn.

“We want to know just what’s the best process to bring all the towns together,” Doar said.
