LITCHFIELD — Maureen McLellan of Litchfield and Michael McLellan of Cambridge, Mass., are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Megan Elizabeth McLellan, to Eric Martin Abbott, son of Robert and Margaret Abbott of Bloomsberg, Pa.

Miss McLellan is also the granddaughter of Jack and the late Jean Crosskill of Lisbon Falls. She graduated valedictorian of her class from Oak Hill High School in Wales in 1996 and summa cum laude from Boston University in Boston in 2000 with a degree in biology. After three years of doing research on Alzheimer’s disease at Mass General, she attended Harvard Medical School, where she graduated with her MD in 2007. She is currently in her third year of residency through Harvard, specializing in ear, nose and throat at Mass Eye and Ear in Boston.

Mr. Abbott graduated in 1994 from Central Columbia High School in Bloomsberg, Pa., and went on to major in computer science and minor in math at the University of Delaware in Newark, Del., where he graduated in 1998. He remained at the University of Delaware to earn his master’s degree in computer science in 2001. He moved to Boston six months later, where he and Miss McLellan met in 2006. He is currently a senior Web developer at Crunchtime! in East Boston.

A wedding ceremony and celebration will be held at Point Sebago Resort in Casco on May 8. The couple will reside in Cambridge, Mass., after a honeymoon trip to Spain.
