LEWISTON — Police were called to investigate a suspicious blue tarp covered in maggots lying on the side of Crowley Road on Tuesday.
The responding officer found the tarp contained a dead calf.
According to the police report, the call came in at about 3:18 p.m. from a man who reported that he and his partner discovered the tarp near the Chapter 11 Warehouse, 55 Crowley Road, which was wrapped in plastic with an extension cord around it. The man told dispatchers that the bundle smelled bad and that maggots were crawling around it.
Upon arrival, police discovered that the tarp contained a dead calf. It was unknown who owned the calf or how it got on the side of the road.
