Paul S. Heath, 78, of New Vineyard, passed April 19, following a short illness, at Edgewood Manor Rehab. & Living Center. He was born in Farmington on Sept. 8, 1931, the son of Everett R. and Anna S. (Brackett) Heath. He graduated from Farmington High in 1951. While in high school he pitched for the baseball team, and worked for Smith’s Wood Turning Mill in New Vineyard. He married Mable Merrill on his birthday in 1952. Paul was drafted into the U.S. Army and served his country while stationed in Berlin, Germany. Upon returning home, he went to work for Wright & Pierce Land Surveyors, and then for Forsters Mfg. He then became the postmaster for the town of New Vineyard for many years, retiring as a rural carrier in 1991. He was raised in the Davis Masonic Lodge in Strong and after that lodge closed he transfered to Blue Mt Lodge # 67 in Phillips. He also was a member of the Maine Sherrif’s Assoc. and a lifetime member of the New Vineyard Fire Dept.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years; a daughter, Deborah Heath Hinkley and her husband, Linwood, of Wilton; a son, Steven Heath and his wife, Lorraine, of New Vineyard; two grandchildren, Matthew and his wife, Sherry; and Scott; three great-grandchildren, Samantha, Paul, and Valerianne; two sisters, Norma Nile and Marjorie Howard; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and his special kitty, Kay.

He is predeceased by four sisters, Joyce “Skippy”, Virginia, Kay, and Elaine; a brother, Colon; and a special friend, David Skillings.
