AUBURN — Eveleth Faye Mauro, 93, formerly of 22 Bobby St., Lewiston, died Wed., April 21, at the Clover Nursing Home in Auburn. Born in Farmingdale on Jan. 1, 1917, she was the daughter of Harold and Emma Cote Russell. A graduate of Gardiner High School, she married John Mauro Sr., who died in 1991. A sweet and engaging woman with a sparkling personality, she was described by the staff of Clover as a “spitball” and a “firecracker.” Eveleth loved her extended family, Joan Dozois and Joan’s family, and was known to them simply as “Aunt Eby.”

Survivors include a cousin, Geraldine Knight of Brooksville Fla. and Plymouth; her best friend, neighbor, and caregiver, Joan Dozois of Lewiston; Joan’s son, Michael Dozois; daughter Celina Mussachio; and Michael’s children, Autumn, Ashton, and Gibson.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Philip; a sister, Mary Blake; and good friend, Normand Dozois.
