LEWISTON — The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 27, at the Ramada Inn. A social half-hour will be followed by lunch at noon. After the speaker, there will be a business meeting with reading of the minutes and old and new business discussion.

Guest speaker will be Paul Ouellette, fire inspector and certified fire investigator for the Lewiston Fire Department. He will present a program on Senior Fire Safety.

As inspector, he conducts life safety inspections throughout the city, blasting inspections, fireworks inspections, concert/event inspections and responds to citywide complaints, reviews building codes, conducts educational programs and works with juvenile fire setters.

As investigator, he responds to fire scenes and conducts an origin and cause of the fire and works with Lewiston Police in arson related fires.

He has held these positions since 1998 and has been a firefighter since 1989. Previously, Ouellette worked at the Brunswick Naval Air Station for three years as a structural and aircraft firefighter. For 13 years he was a volunteer firefighter and EMT for the Danville Fire Department, leaving the department with the rank of District Fire Chief. He has been married for 16 years and has two daughters.

Plans for the meeting were conducted by phone with participants Vi Dumais, Richard St. Amand, Joanne Morse, Helen Little, Martha Robinson, Theresa Baumer, Doris Hamel and Roland Metayer.
