AUBURN — Betty J. Garey, 77, of 282 Lisbon St., Lewiston, died Wednesday, April 21, at the Hospice House in Auburn.
Born in Denison, Texas, on Jan. 1, 1933, she was the daughter of Hazel C. and Clara Reddick Johnson. She was educated in Dallas schools, and moved to Maine 50 years ago. She was employed for many years as a bartender in several area restaurants and was a member of the Lewiston Social Club and the Acme Club. She loved camping, puzzles, cooking, knitting and her son-in-law’s smoked ribs, but her favorite thing was time spent with her family and friends, especially around the holidays.
Survivors include two sons, CD Cantrell and wife, Linda, of Terell, Texas and Gary Gardner and companion, Beth Baril, of Lewiston; three daughters, Dianna and husband, Steve Lemieux, of Auburn, Pat and husband, Terry Freve, of Lewiston and Debbie Fleury of Lewiston; two sisters-in-law, Chris Johnson of Oceanside. Calif., and Jimmie Johnson of Dallas, Texas; a brother-in-law, Bill Evans of Texas; eight grandchildren, Tammy, Bobby Jo, Terry Jr., Jenna, Shawn, Breanna, Brian and Robby; numerous great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents; she was predeceased by a sister, Nancy Evans; and two brothers, Tommy and Billy Johnson.
