PHILADELPHIA — Abby Dunn, a sophomore track and field standout at Edward Little High School, won the 5-kilometer junior racewalk Saturday at the prestigious Penn Relays.

Dunn’s winning time was 25 minutes, 34.15 seconds, a 1:33 faster than her previous best time. Dunn was a member of the 2009 USA Junior Track and Field Team.

Waterville junior Courtney Williams, racing in her first 5K competition, finished fifth with a time of 27:57.58 to qualifyfor the the USATF Junior National Track and field Championship 10K junior women’s race by more than 32 seconds. That race will be held in Des Moines, Iowa, in late June.

Lewiston sophomore Nicole Court-Menendez, who has already qualified for the Junior Nationals, finished in eighth place with a qualifying time of 28:28.96.

All three Maine finishers will be racing in the Junior Nationals along with Gorham junior Jennifer Thuotte and Maranacook junior Evan Vincent a 2009 USATF Junior Track and Field Team member.
