Schott (played by Tom Ford) attempts to form an alliance with Fasch (Tom Butler) through intimidation in Portland Stage Company’s production of “Bach at Leipzig.” In the play the greatest musicians of 18th century Germany scurry to audition when the coveted position of organ master at Leipzig Cathedral is advertised. Waiting for their turns to play, seven discordant characters collide in a fugue of wit and wordplay as they scheme, bribe and double-cross to win the post that will make one musician a legend. The show opens Tuesday, May 4, and runs through May 23 at the theater at 25A Forest Ave., Portland. For tickets, showtimes and other information, call 774-0465 or visit www.portlandstage.org.
