MEXICO — Police made a fourth arrest in connection to a burglary-and-theft spree that took place last weekend.

Mexico Sgt. Roy Hodsdon said Jacob Clark, 18, of Carthage was arrested at 2 p.m., Thursday, at the Rumford Police Department. He is charged with two counts of felony burglary, two counts of felony theft, two counts of criminal trespass, one count of vandalism, and two counts of violating conditions of release.

He was taken to the Oxford County jail where he will remain until arraignment early next week. The bail was set at $6,000 cash or $80,000 surety.

Arrested earlier this week on similar charges in connection with the same incidents were Derek Harnden, 19, of Washington Street, Rumford, a 14-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy, both from Rumford.

Hodsdon said a fifth suspect may also be included within a few days as the investigation continues.

The arrests are the result of a slew of thefts and burglaries on Osgood Avenue, Carlton Avenue and Pine Street in Mexico throughout a 12-hour period on Saturday, April 24.

Taken during the burglaries were a dirt bike, two bicycles and a powered bicycle. Hodson said all items were recovered. His department is still working on recovering other items that Clark had allegedly taken during prior incidents.
