DEAR SUN SPOTS: The public is invited to Mountain Valley Regions’ Retirement Banquet honoring Liz Coffin, Brenda McInnis, Gemma Morrill-Dreher and Rita Aromaa. Please join us at Black Mountain of Maine on Friday, May 14. The social hour will be from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., with dinner at 5:30 and the program to follow at 6:30 p.m. The buffet menu will include a chicken dish, vegetarian lasagna, rolls, vegetables, salad and dessert.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Maine Association of Professional Accountants is having its annual meeting on June 7 at Brown’s Wharf in Boothbay Harbor. At the close of our business meeting we have dinner, then we have a small auction. We are looking for an auctioneer who would be willing to offer his or her services as a donation or for a nominal fee.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: As chairman of the Memorial Day Parade I would like to inform the public that the Rumford American Legion will be holding the parade this year on May 31. Any organization wishing to participate in the parade please arrive at the old Agway Store off Canal Street in Rumford between 9 and 9:30 a.m.

We will be holding a contest this year for best float with either a military or patriotic theme, with prizes for first place at $150, second place $100 and third place $50.
