Ronald E. Jones

1930 – 2010

PORTLAND — Ronald E. Jones, 79, a resident of Turmel Road, Livermore Falls, died late Friday evening, April 30, at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

He was born on Sept. 7, 1930, in Livermore Falls, the son of Harold and Evelyn (Pettengill) Jones. Ron was a 1949 graduate of Livermore Falls High School; during his high school years he was a proud member of the Future Farmers of America. On Nov. 24, 1949, in Livermore Falls, he married Arlene McCrillis of Jay.

Ronald farmed for many years. He also worked as a pipefitter at International Paper, Androscoggin Mill in Jay, and Bath Iron Works in Bath. He was a past officer and member of New Norland Grange 580, a member of International Paper Co. Quarter Century Club, the Antique One Lunger Engine Club, the Antique Tractor Club and 4-H Leader. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he and Arlene opened their home to many and he was proud of the extended family he helped raise.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Arlene Jones, of Livermore Falls; two daughters, Linda Deane and her husband, Sterling, of Livermore and Leisa Doiron and her companion, Mark, Hutchinson of Livermore Falls; two sons, Raynold Jones and his friend, Tina Martin, of East Livermore and Donald Jones and his wife, Grace, of Jay; 7 grandchildren, Laurel Merchant, Amy, Kalie, Holden and Heather Doiron, Emily Staier, and Erin Jones; stepgrandson, Jamie Ouellette; great-grandchild, Raymond Hedges; and special friends, Nina and Larry Thomas.

He was predeceased by his brother, Louis Jones.
