Blood drive

Receives grant

FARMINGTON — The Healthy Community Coalition has received funding from the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation of Maine. The one-year $46,618 grant will be used for the breast cancer education and screening project, Reaching Rural Women Where They’re At.

The project will employ evidence-based strategies with the goal of increasing the number of eligible women who receive some form of breast health education and breast cancer screenings, according to Heather Davis, HCC executive director.

Public supper

JAY — A free public supper will be held on Saturday, May 8, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Main Street. Doors will open at 3:30 p.m. and the meal will be served from 4:30 to 6 p.m. The menu will include spaghetti and meatballs, soup, vegetable, bread, drink and desserts. The building is handicapped accessible at the rear door.

Donations are welcome, but not necessary. Those wishing to help with supplies may call Mike at 779-6951.

Friendship Day

OXFORD — Church Women United will observe May Friendship Day at 9:30 a.m. Friday, May 7, at the Oxford Congregational Church. The program is titled “Living the Vision,” The least coin collection will also be taken.

Refreshments will be served. All are welcome.

Class lunch

RUMFORD — The Mexico High School Class of 1959 is invited to meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 4, at the the River Valley Grill.
