MEXICO — Geneva Mae Garrett, 91, died at her residence on Woodland Avenue, Mexico, on Monday, May 3, with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Waltham, Mass., Jan. 5, 1919 , the daughter of Herbert and Pearl (Ladd) Curtis and graduated from Mexico High School, Mexico, Class of 1936.

She worked as a nurse’s aide at the Rumford Community Hospital for many years, until retirement and then she worked at Maddy’s Pizza in Mexico.

She was a former member of the Rumford Falls Aerie 1248, F.O.E. Auxiliary. She loved spending time with her family, playing Bingo with her friends and enjoyed baseball, especially the Red Sox.

She was married in Lewiston in 1941, to Aurel Lionel Garrett, who died in Washington state in May 1971.

Survivors include her daughter, Pearl “Vickie” McPeek and husband, Harold, of Mexico; a son, Levi Anthony Garrett of Bangor; sister, Madeline Lauzier of Mexico; brother, Robert Curtis and wife, Rena, of Ellsworth; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by four children, Pamela Martin and Richard, Bruce and David Garrett.
