FARMINGTON — Crystal Kwon, an incoming freshman at Mt. Blue High School, went to Washington, D.C. during her spring break from school, and was sworn in at Mt. Vernon (the home of George Washington) as the new state president for the State of Maine Children of the American Revolution.

Kwon chose as her theme, “Tracing the footsteps of history to make a better future.” She told the story of Hannah Weston, a Maine patriot of the American Revolution.

Children of the American Revolution, founded in 1895, is the oldest patriotic youth organization in the country. Membership is open to all from birth to 21 who descend from a patriot of the American Revolution. Members gain leadership experience in conducting meetings, following parliamentary procedures and standard protocol, serving as delegates and speaking before groups at local, state and national conferences.
