PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Maine film officials are confident the makers of a movie about the Wyeth family will choose Maine for the primary location for filming.

Maine Arts Commission Director Donna McNeil says a verbal commitment was sealed with a handshake from the governor. She says it’s now a matter of working out the details.

Mary Kemper Wolf, the film’s executive producer, says as much as 80 percent of the movie “Wyeth” could be shot in Maine. The rest would be filmed in the artist family’s home base, Pennsylvania. The movie will explore the relationships between N.C., Andrew and Jamie Wyeth.

Maine’s film incentives aren’t as lucrative as other states. The Portland Press Herald says part of that difference could be made up through local investment.
