What Health Care Reform Will Mean to You – Changes to Medicare: Monday, May 10, from 10 to 11 a.m. Cost: free. Instructor: Connie Jones, SeniorsPlus director of community services.

AARP Safe Driving Course: Thursday, May 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost: $14. A refresher driving safety course from AARP. Participants will qualify for an insurance discount.

Introduction to Facebook: Friday, May 14, from 10 to 11 a.m. Cost: free. An introduction to what it is, how to create a profile, e-mail friends and family and how to be safe when online.

What is Palliative Care?: Monday, May 17, from 11 a.m. to noon. Cost: free. Central Maine Medical Center’s Jackie P. Fournier, nurse practitioner, will present.

Caregiving – Behavior is Communication: Tuesday, May 18, from 10 a.m. to noon. Cost: free. Presented by The Alzheimer’s Association.

A Guide to Financial Power of Attorneys and Joint Checking Accounts: Monday, May 24, from 10 to 11 a.m. Cost: free. Brianne Martin, staff attorney for Legal Services for the Elderly, will provide guidance on financial power of attorneys and joint checking accounts.

Savvy Caregiving: Thursdays, May 27 through July 1, from 9 to 11 a.m. Free. Presented by The Alzheimer’s Association. The basics of dementia, caregiver self-care, stages of dementia, matching tasks to remaining abilities, tips for making major caregiver decisions and family relationships will be covered in detail.

The Retirement Planning Series will include the following workshops:

Your New Lifestyle: Thursday, May 13, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Connie Jones will discuss what lifestyle changes a person might experience once they hit retirement and how to maximize overall wellness while aging.

The Benefits of Having Advanced Directives: Thursday, May 20, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Instructor Brianne Martin will guide participants through health care advanced directives, power of attorneys and wills.

Medicare Basics: Wednesday, May 26, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Roland Bussiere will discuss the basics of Parts A through D.

Financially Planning for Your Retirement: Thursday, May 27, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Florence Annear, Ameriprise financial advisor, will give an overview of defining a vision for retirement, assessing benefits, anticipating how expenses might change and defining risk tolerance. She will also discuss what can be expected from Social Security taxation in retirement.
