Auburn — Pauline M. Gourde, 80, of Hall Hill Road in Rumford died Wednesday, May 5, at the Hospice House in Auburn following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Mexico on Nov. 7, 1929, a daughter of Damas and Alice M. (Richard) Chaisson. She attended Mexico schools.
She married Leo P. Gourde of Jay on Feb. 4, 1950, at St. Theresa’s in Mexico. Together they celebrated 60 years of marriage and raised two children.
She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior and was a member of the American Legion Auxillary in Dixfield. She was also an avid bingo player and enjoyed spending summers with family at North Pond in Belgrade.
Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Leo P. Gourde, of Rumford; two children, Linda Myers and her husband, Don, of Vernon, Conn., and Donald G. Gourde of Rumford; a sister, Anita Chaisson Litalien and her husband, George, of Peru; a brother, Albert Chaisson and his wife, Janice, of Rumford; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; two sisters, Beatrice Daigle and Loretta Arsenault; and six brothers, Manuel, Phil, Albion, Eddie, John and Willie Chaisson.
