LEWISTON — Jeff Keene knocked in the game-winning run with a two-run single in the sixth inning and Mekae Hyde came on in relief and stymied Hampden’s attack to lead Lewiston to a 13-9 come-from-behind victory Friday in KVAC baseball action.

Hyde took the mound in the fifth inning with the Blue Devils trailing 8-5 and threw three innings of one-hit ball, allowing just one unearned run. He also helped the offense by hitting a double, triple and home run.

Lewiston (6-2) tied the game in the fifth. After Hyde led off with a home run, Keene reached on an error and scored on Conroy LeBlond’s triple. Ben Wigrant followed with an RBI double

The Devils carried the momentum into the sixth with five more runs. Keene broke the deadlock with a two-run single before the Devils added three insurance runs.

Wigant led Lewiston with four hits, including a pair of doubles. Trey Ouellette added a solo home run leading off in the first inning.

Cody Miller went the distance for Hampden (3-5) for the loss.

Boothbay 8, Monmouth 4

MONMOUTH — Maurice Gagnon scattered two hits and drew ample run support as Boothbay hustled to a 8-4 victory over Monmouth in an MVC baseball matchup Friday.

Joey Hersom led the Seahawks (1-5) to their first win of 2010 with two doubles and three RBIs, while Tim Norwood smacked an RBI double.

Jeremy Ashlock led the winless Mustangs (0-5) with two hits in the contest.

Mt. Abram 11, Carrabec 1

SALEM — Josh Beedy scattered three hits and struck out six as Mt. Abram rolled over Carrabec 11-1 in an MVC baseball tilt Friday.

Tim Smith led the Roadrunners (3-2) with three hits and one RBI, highlighted by a home run in the second frame. Dylan Tisor also contributed with two hits and two RBIs in a well-balanced attack.

The Cobras (1-5) were paced by Dillon Dominski with a triple and a double. Dominski also handled pitching duties and suffered the loss.

Lisbon 5, Wiscasset 4

LISBON — Mike Degou executed a perfect suicide squeeze to score Scott Eck from third as Lisbon walked off with a 5-4 victory over Wiscasset in eight innings Friday.

The Indians (3-3) scored three runs in the second and led 3-1 when Lisbon entered the home half of the sixth inning. Frank Angelico pushed a pair of runs across in the bottom of the sixth to help give the Greyhounds (5-1) a brief 4-3 lead.

Justin Caron went 2-for-4, and doubled in a pair of runs in the second inning for Wiscasset.

Angelico relieved Eck on the mound in the third inning and proceeded to fan five batters, while giving up only two walks over the next six innings. Mason Brewer went all eight innings for Wiscasset and fanned nine batters in the losing effort.

Cape Elizabeth 13, Poland 2

POLAND — Pitcher Will Pierce went 4-for-4 from the plate to help his own cause and propel Cape Elizabeth to a 13-2 victory over Poland in baseball action Friday.

The Capers poured on the offense in a six-run fourth inning to take a convincing 7-0 lead over Poland. Kyle Piscopo chipped in with a pair of singles and a double for Cape Elizabeth.

Junior right fielder Devin Goyette had two hits for the Knights, including a solo home run.

Oak Hill 7, Belfast 4

WALES — The pitcher, Cody Plourde, went 4-for-4 from the plate to lead Oak Hill to a 7-4 victory over Belfast in KVAC baseball action Friday.

Craig Morrilldropped a two-run, two-out hit in the third inning to put the Raiders (2-4) up 3-1. Plourde produced a two-run double in the fourth and scored on a Josh Prue sacrifice fly in the sixth inning for a 7-4 lead.

Senior first baseman Chris Ward had two hits, including a double for the Lions (3-3) in the losing effort.

Edward Little 5, Lawrence 2

AUBURN — Senior first baseman Ryan Arnold smacked a three-run home run to lift Edward Little to a 5-2 victory over Lawrence in KVAC baseball action Friday afternoon.

Tied at 1-1 in the home half of the fifth inning, the Red Eddies (2-4) lit the fuse when James Jackson singled and Corey Moholland walked. In turn, Arnold launched a three-run home run. Mat Gordon followed up with a solo shot for an insurance run, and put Edward Little up 5-1.

Alex Leathers and Shawn Russell recorded a pair of hits each for the Bulldogs (2-4). Leathers had a double and an RBI single, while Russell scored twice.

Dirigo 10, Jay 0

JAY — Arik Fenstermacher doubled and Dirigo took advantaged of walks and seven errors to overpower Jay, 10-0, in a Mountain Valley Conference baseball game Friday.

The Cougars (4-1) erupted with four runs in the thrd inning and capped it off with six more in the fourth in the five-inning game. Dirigo only had three hits, but did not make an error.

Eric Bolduc got the win on the mound, with support from relievers Ryan LaFleur and Ben Holmes. Jay’s Billy Calden had two hits, including a triple.

Oxford Hills 7, Mt. Blue 1

PARIS — Jordan Croteau smacked a three-run double in the third inning as undefeated Oxford Hills (7-0) glided to a 7-1 victory over Mt. Blue (2-6) in a baseball game Friday.

Catcher Matt Verrier had an RBI double and Croteau had two hits for the day. Mt. Blue’s Alec Wallace smacked an RBI triple in the third inning.

Oxford Hills pitcher Nate Dubois (2-0) got the win on the mound.

Lacrosse

Hebron 5, Berwick 4 (OT)

HEBRON — Chris Gascy scored the tying goal that sent the contest into overtime with 18 seconds remaining in regulation, and netted the game-winner in the final 2.8 seconds of the five-minute overtime period to lift Hebron to a 5-4 victory over Berwick in boys’ lacrosse action Friday.

Chris Atwood and kevin Airoldi netted a pair of goals each for Berwick.

Eric Banash, Lonnie Taylor and Levi Lincoln contributed to the Lumberjack offense with a goal apiece. Kyle Cordaro notched the win in net with 20 saves for Hebron.
