Community supper

WATERFORD — The Wilkins Community House will hold the last of its monthly community potluck suppers at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 20. All are welcome.

The Community House is located in Waterford Flat on Plummer Hill Road behind the village green next door to the church. The hosts for the supper will be Martha Eaton and Sara Stockwell. Attendees are asked to bring a dish to share. The community suppers will return in October.

Church events

EAST SUMNER — The Congregational Church of East Sumner has announced the guest speakers and events for May. Joseph W. Glass will present the sermon at 9 a.m. Sunday, May 16. 

A senior luncheon and bingo will be held at noon Wednesday, May 19. Admission is a candy bar or can of fruit. Children are welcome. The planting of the church pumpkin patch and garden will take place on Saturday, May 22 and a bean and casserole public supper will be held at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, May 29. Cost is $7 each person.

Bridge play

NORWAY — The Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge Club met on May 7 in the Fare Share Building, Main Street. A three-and-one-half table Howell movement was played.

Finishing first in flight A were Pat and Mike Quinn; second, Kathy Feld and Denny Raymond, also first in flight B; third, Suzanne Dame Amdrews and Carol Curran, also second in flight B. Third in flight B, Jim Fallon and Richard Worthington.

WEST PARIS — The Finnish-American Heritage Society of Maine will meet at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 16, at the Finnish-American Heritage Center, 8 Maple St. Following a brief business meeting, a film will be shown. The film, titled “Isien Tyot,” shows different types of work in Finland between 1963 and 1940, from very intricate lace-making to the building of an aspen pun.

A coffee social will follow. The public is invited to attend.

Library association

WATERFORD — The Waterford Library Association will hold its annual meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, at the library. Reports on the activities of the past year will be presented and trustees will be elected.

The program will include a brief presentation by Joanne Morse on the Socrates Cafe discussion program. Also included will be the first showing of a quilt created by Donna Patrie. The quilt, featuring Maine themes, will be raffled off this summer as one of the library fundraisers for the year. All Waterford residents are invited to attend the annual meeting.
