BETHEL — The Mahoosuc Community Band will perform its spring concert at 7 p.m. Sunday, May 16, at the West Parish Congregational Church.

The concert will include a variety of styles, including “Stephen Foster Fantasy,” arranged by James Burden; “Shenandoah”; “Chicago,” an arrangement of the pop band’s music; “The King Across the Water,” featuring the percussion of Jim Chandler, Scott Hynek and Lyn Arizzi and “The Water is Wide,” arranged by Rick Kirby.

The band, directed by Patricia Boyle-Wight, is preparing for the summer with Memorial Day parades, the Mollyockett Day parade and concert on July 17 and the end of the summer concert at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 16, at Gould Academy, Bingham Hall.

Financial donations from individuals and community businesses help the band with music purchases, equipment purchases and programs.

The band rehearses at 7 p.m. Mondays, at the West Parish Congregational Church. New members are welcome and young people from area middle schools or high schools are welcome to join the band for the summer or the fall.
