LEWISTON – Songs composed for the big screen will be the focus of the Maine Music Society’s “Music from the Movies” concert on Saturday and Sunday, May 22-23.

The 50-member Androscoggin Chorale will perform familiar tunes such as “Nine to Five,” by Dolly Parton; “Sooner or Later,” by Stephen Sondheim; “As Time Goes By,” from “Casablanca;” music from the 1939 film “Hollywood Hotel,” and many more.

Soloists are sopranos Annette L. Bourque, Karen Chapman and Barbara Leonard, tenor Karl Dan Sorensen and Androscoggin Chorale Artistic Director John Corrie.

Other chorale members include sopranos Kathy Bidwell, Amanda Caldwell, Kathy Claerr, Eileen Coyne, Karin Draper, Liz Feeley, Kirsten Frazier, Chelsea Gould, Amelia Hannigan, Karen Lipovsky, Katharine McNear, Helene St. Hilaire, Anna Skeele, Jean Struck, Christine A. Tardif, Susan White, and Sheryl Whitmore; altos Judith Andrucki, Pam Chenea, Carol DiBello, Betsy Easton, Helene Gendell, Ruth Hertz, Elise Jack, Sandra Kostron, Janet Landry, Sue Luce, Patricia Martz, Elizabeth Meid, Jane Morse, Allison Pastore, Claire Poulin, Ruth Ann Smith, Kay Townsend and Susan Trask; tenors Matt Buganza, Aaron Gagnon, Ralph Harder, Doug Hodgkin, Jonathan Mitschele, and Brian Pfohl; and basses Claude Bergeron, David Blocher, Jop Blom, Michael Gendell, Mathieu Poulin, and Woody Trask.

Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 22, at the Forum in the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School in Paris; and 3 p.m. Sunday, May 23, at the Franco-American Heritage Center in Lewiston. This will be the last concert of the 2009-10 season.
