CANTON — An all-terrain vehicle rider was air-lifted to a Lewiston hospital early Thursday night after crashing on Meadowview Road.

Oxford County sheriff’s deputies were sent to the area off Route 140 at about 6:30 p.m. when it was reported that the rider had crashed along the roadway.

A Maine game warden was sent to assist with the rescue. A LifeFlight helicopter was sent to the scene and flew the victim to Central Maine Medical Center.

Oxford County sheriff’s officials were investigating the crash. They did not immediately return messages seeking further information.

Meadowview Road stretches between the Androscoggin River and Forest Pond, an area thick with snowmobile and ATV trails.
