PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Sen. Susan Collins says there’s not a direct tie between the man arrested in Maine and the suspect in the attempted bombing in New York’s Times Square.

Three Pakistani men were detained on Thursday — two in the Boston area, and one in Maine.

Portland Police Chief James Craig said Friday that the Maine detainee was arrested in Portland, not neighboring South Portland, as was originally reported. Another law enforcement source who declined to be identified said the man lived in South Portland, but was arrested in Portland.

Authorities say three Pakistani men who supplied funds to Times Square car-bomb suspect Faisal Shahzad were arrested Thursday in a series of raids across the Northeast. It’s unclear if the men knew how the money was going to be used.
