SOUTH PARIS — Roland W. Samson, 86, of 4 Hall St.,  Lewiston, died at the Maine Veterans Home on Thursday, May 13, where he resided for the past four years.
He was born in  North Grosveno Dale, Conn. on April 19, 1924, a son of the late Wilfred and Mary Roy Samson, he was educated in Connecticut schools. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was married to the former Helen T. Hadakin on Aug. 22, 1943. She died March 2, 1995.
He was a former member of St. Patrick’s Parish and worked as a loom fixer and retired as a foreman at Quico Fabrics. He loved spending time with his familly, and spending time at his camp. He enjoyed working in the barn, helping with his daughter’s horses. He also enjoyed flying in his son’s airplane. 
He is remembered for his big heart and generosity and hard work ethic. He is survived by his son, Rene R. Samson of Lewiston; a daughter, Mrs. John Pamela Davey of South Bridge, Mass.; his  son-in-law, Timothy Chaplin of Poland; grandchildren, Debbie and husband, John Stevens, Todd Monier, Lori Blossom and fiancee, Jason Robert, Raymond Blossom and wife, Jennifer, Tricia Kent and Justin and Shannon Davey; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, with one more on the way; a sister, Mary Rose Cote of Lewiston; and a brother, Real Samson of Greene.
He was predeceased  by a daughter, Sonja Chaplin; two sons, Timothy and Rickwood Samson; two sisters, Laurette LeBlanc and Adrienne Theriault.
