SOUTH PARIS — Marion J. Crockett, 89, of Buckfield, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, May 14, at Market Square Health Care Center, South Paris.

She was born in Waterford on Aug. 31, 1920, the daughter of Merle F. and Lillian Skinner Jack, and was educated in Buckfield schools.

Marion married John W. Crockett on Aug. 1, 1942. She worked at Withington Woodworking, Wilners, the Buckfield school cafeteria, Senior Plus as a manager and volunteer for 28 years, as a domestic for the elderly, and was a gate keeper at Kennebago.

She had many hobbies including painting, sewing, knitting, crocheting and crafts of all kinds, and she was a perfectionist at all of them. Marion was an entrepreneur in business at a time when women didn’t typically do such things. She owned and operated laundromats in Buckfield and Canton and a yarn shop in her home. She sold Tupperware and Christmas Around the World. She had a zest for life and enjoyed traveling. Marion loved her family and was always willing to help anyone whenever she could. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her three children, Alice Allen and her husband, Rodney Allen, Rose Anna Gammon and her husband, Roland Gammon, and her son, Lester Crockett; six grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, Daniel Benjamin; first husband, Harold Johnson; second husband, John Crockett; and grandson, Dennis Gammon.
