LEWISTON — Gary J. G. Chessie, 55, of Holyoke Avenue, Rumford, died Sunday, May 16, at Central Maine Medical Center.

He was born in Rumford, Dec. 6, 1954, the son of Gabriel and Irene (Foley) Chessie. He graduated from Mexico High School, Class of 1973, and had attended college in Boston.

He was a banquet co-coordinator for several of the larger hotels in the heart of Boston for many years. He was a communicant of St. Athanasius–St. John Church. He loved spending time with his family. He also enjoyed working with stained glass, gardening and cooking.

Survivors include sisters, Sylvia Belanger of South Paris, Elaine Tibbetts and Philip Carrier of Dixfield, Theresa Thibodeau and husband, Victor, of Roxbury, Jane Swan and husband, David, of Cumberland, Mary Rinaldo and husband, Tim, of Dixfield, Monica Williams of Palm Harbor, Fla., Joanne Chessie of Chicago, Ill., and Maureen Brodeur and husband, Thomas, of North Attleboro, Mass.; brothers, Norbert Chessie and wife, Joan, of Livermore Falls, Dennis Chessie of Spanaway, Wash., Joseph Chessie of Monroe, Wash., and Christopher Chessie of Mexico; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.
