LEWISTON — Anthony “Tony” J. Chandonnet, 66, of Nichols Street,Lewiston, died, May 10, after a brief battle with cancer.

He was born in Lewiston, June 9, 1943, the son of Ernest and Margaret Chandonnet.

Tony attended local schools, graduating from the University of Maine in 1966, with a degree in theater. After retiring from working as a self-employed lobsterman, he went on to work part-time at L.L.Bean in Freeport. His interests included Native American culture, music and reading. He frequently attended Native American events throughout New England.

Survivors include a daughter, Anastasia and grandson, Matthew; five brothers, James, Daniel and wife, Carol, of Lewiston, Patrick and wife, Alice, Thomas and wife, Lisa and Ernest, all of Texas; five sisters, Sheila Brown of Texas, MaryEllen and husband, Leroy Couillard, of Sabattus, Eileen and Susan of Lewiston and Rose Mary and husband, Richard, of Lisbon; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; and a brother, Michael. At his request, no services were held.
