FALMOUTH — Eileen Fahey Palman, 84, of Falmouth, died peacefully at the Sedgewood Commons Nursing Home on Sunday, May 16, after a long illness.

She was born in Lewiston, Jan. 28, 1926, a daughter of Edward and Agnes Byrnes Fahey. She married Louis J. Palman on April 12, 1947. Louis passed away in 2006.

She lived most of her life in the Lewiston-Auburn area, and together with her husband raised their three children. She received great joy from her family and friends and truly enjoyed her children and grandchildren. She was an active member of St. Patrick’s Church. She belonged to the Rosary Sodality, the St. Vincent de Paul Society, and worked for years at the St. Patrick’s School hot lunch program, where she was the “dessert lady.”

Once her children were grown, she worked at downtown Lewiston jewelry stores. After retirement, she enjoyed many winters with her husband, and close friends Pauline and Wendell Willett, in Florida. She loved life, liked spending time with family, cooking, traveling, and babysitting her beloved grandchildren.

She is survived by her sons, Gregory L. and wife, Deborah Palman, of Amherst and Gary E. and wife, Mary Palman, of Falmouth; her daughter, Mary Lou and husband, Donald R. Burgess, of Kennebunkport; four grandchildren, Kathryn E. Landry of Cumberland, Johnathan E. Palman of Falmouth, and Nicholas R. and Timothy R. Burgess of Kennebunkport; a great-grandchild, Gabriel Landry of Cumberland; a brother, Edward M. Fahey of Auburn; and a sister, Joan Huard of Davie, Fla.

The essence of Eileen…love, caring, compassion and involvement at the basic and elemental family level of life. Her grace and style will be remembered by all who knew and loved her.
