POLAND — The western chapter of the Small Woodland Owners Association of Maine will host a walking tour of the recently harvested Davis Lot from 9 a.m. to noon May 22.

The 40-acre lot that is part of SWOAM’s land trust was acquired four years ago from the Davis Family.

The tour will be led by Harold Burnett of Two Trees Forestry, the consulting forestry company that supervised the logging of the property in November 2009.

The tour will focus on the goals and achievements of the harvest as well as plans for the lot’s future.

The event is free and open to the public with coffee and doughnuts available at 8:30 a.m. For more information, contact Merle Ring at 674-3787.

From Route 26 in Poland, turn onto the Poland Corner Road by the municipal building, go across Range Brook and up the hill nearly a half-mile. The Davis property is located on the right marked by a SWOAM sign and a new parking lot. SWOAM signs will be posted.
