LEWISTON — Kirby Rodrigue scored four goals and Lauren Lessard had two as Lewiston shook off a stubborn Edward Little with a narrow 9-7 victory in a girls’ lacrosse game Thursday.

The Blue Devils (4-5) held a slim 4-3 lead at halftime before both teams traded goals in the second half.

For the Red Eddies (2-7), Kate Sawyer and Shelbea Russell each scored three goals.

Morse 10, Mtn. Valley 9

RUMFORD — Sophomore midfielder Tory Field notched four goals, including the game-clincher to lift Morse to a 10-9 victory over Mountain Valley in KVAC girls’ lacrosse action Thursday afternoon.

Sophomore center Ayla Allen, who had three goals, closed the gap to within one goal with 1:32 remaining for the Falcons (2-6). Allen also had the opportunity to tie the game with 30 seconds remaining, but missed the eight-meter penalty shot.

Sophomore Christina Strout chipped in with three tallies for the Shipbuilders (6-2).

Goalie Hollie Theriault had 11 saves for Mountain Valley, while Crystal Leavitt earned the win in net for Morse with 15 stops.

Oxford Hills 26, Lincoln 12

PARIS — Oxford Hills piled up 15 goals in the first half and then knocked the wind from Lincoln Academy’s offense in the second half as the goal-happy Vikings sacked the Eagles, 26-12, in a girls’ lacrosse game Thursday.

The Vikings (6-3) held a 15-9 lead and then tightened up their defense and held Lincoln to just three goals in the second half, stifling leading goal scorer Molly Stackhouse, who scored six goals.

Ebony Mills punched in 10 goals and earned two assists. Heather Knights was right behind Mills with eight goals and an assist and Hannah Waren scored three.

The Vikings outshot the Eagles, 33-20, and goalie Mariah Kimball made eight saves.

Softball

Dirigo 4, Mt. Abram 2

DIXFIELD — Katrina Pulk belted a two-run double in the fourth inning to lift Dirigo to a 4-2 victory over Mt. Abram in MVC softball action Thursday.

Alyssa Wade led the Cougars (6-5) with three hits and two RBIs, while Mariah Larson and Kym Dolloff each belted doubles. Wade earned the mound win after working the first six frames.

Jillian Whitney led the Roadrunners (7-4) with an RBI double. Molly McCafferty went the distance for Mt. Abram and gave up six hits.

Telstar 9, Mountain Valley 0

BETHEL — Kayla Merrill scattered two hits, struck out 16 and walked none as unbeaten Telstar cruised to a 9-0 rout over Mountain Valley in a MVC softball matchup Thursday.

The Rebels (10-0) built a six-run lead in the first two frames. Merrill helped her own cause with a pair of hits, while Nicena Walker, Hannah Morin, Lyndsay Merrill, Lindsey James and T.J. Cowin all had two hits in a well-balanced attack.

Hillary Dolloff worked the first four innings for Mountain Valley (4-6) and suffered the loss.

Gray-New Gloucester 16, Poland 2

POLAND — Laura Getchell scattered three hits, walked three and struck out 13 as Gray-New Gloucester cruised to a 16-2 victory over Poland in an WMC softball tilt Thursday.

Getchell threw her 700th career strikeout in an impressive outing. Kelie Sanborn led the Patriots (8-2) with two hits and four RBIs, while Maggie Chaplin belted three hits with two RBIs. Alex Thompson also contributed with three hits and one RBI.

Colleen Murphy worked the first four innings for Poland.

Lisbon 13, St. Dom’s 1

LISBON — Kimber Morse hurled five innings of one-hit softball and drew adequate run support as Lisbon rolled over St. Dom’s, 13-1, in MVC softball action Thursday afternoon.

The Greyhounds (10-2) jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first frame and was never challenged. Brooke Lawrence, Alexa Harmon and Chantel Bisson all pounded out three hits for Lisbon.

Sarah Gosselin led the Saints with a pair of hits, while Hannah Sterling suffered the loss.

Maranacook 4, Oak Hill 2

WALES — The Maranacook softball squad erupted for three runs in the third inning and went on to record a 4-2 victory over Oak Hill.

Katie Dore ignited the big frame for Maranacook with an RBI double, finishing with two hits on the day. Sarah Maxwell struck out 11 and walked one to record the mound win.

Oak Hill was paced by Sarah Albert with a pair of hits, while Lauren Hall suffered the loss.

Madison 5, Livermore Falls 3

MADISON — Natalie Michaud belted an RBI single in the sixth inning to lift Madison to a 5-3 victory over Livermore Falls in a MVC softball tilt.

Michaud led the Bulldogs (4-7) with two hits and two RBIs, including a double in the first. Kayla Booker scattered six hits in seven innings of work to notch the win.

The Andies (4-8) were led by Marissa Welch with three hits, while Katherine Ventrella hit a triple. Kaitlyn Townsend struck out one and suffered the loss.

EL 6, Oxford Hills 2

AUBURN — Junior left fielder Emily Johnson crushed a three-run home run in the first inning to launch Edward Little to a 6-2 triumph over Oxford Hills in KVAC softball action Thursday.

The Red Eddies (8-3) were also powered by Emily Grund, who had two runs and three hits, including a solo home run in the second inning.

Right fielder Ashley West contributed an RBI single in the fifth inning for the Vikings (7-4), while Brittina Maheux recorded a run and an RBI in the losing effort.
