SOUTH PARIS — Memorial Day services are being planned to take place at the Maine Veterans’ Home, 477 High St. The service will be held at 2 pm. Sunday, May 30. The event is co-sponsored by the facility along with Western Maine Veterans Advisory Committee.

Guest speaker for the service will be Sheryl Briggs, state representative from the Rumford area. There will be a flag raising and posting of the colors presented by the Mexico Junior Auxiliary police. An invocation will be delivered by the Rev. Mel Young, chaplain for the advisory committee.

“This is a special celebration for us this year. As we honor our veterans on Memorial Day, we are also celebrating our 15th year of services as a facility. We opened our doors in the summer of 1995. We have many activities planned over the next few months to celebrate our 15th birthday,” said Joel Dutton, administrator of the 90-bed facility.

The public is invited to the Memorial Day service. Refreshments will be served and tours of the facility will be available. For more information, call 743-6300 or visit the website at www.maineveteranshomes.org.
