Buckfield 14, Rangeley 0

RANGELEY — Ashley Hamann had three hits and four RBIs and Heather Clavet fired a two-hit shutout to lead Buckfield to a 14-0 victory over Rangeley in a Class D softball game Tuesday.

The Bucks (10-2) scored nine runs in the first three innings to take control. Hammond had a triple among her three hits, while Zoe Gillis chipped in with a double and a triple.

Clavet struck out 12 batters over six innings, while Chantal Carrier of Rangeley fanned five.

Mt. Blue 17, Lawrence 10

FARMINGTON — Hannah Allen and Lindsay St. Laurent had three hits apiece and Marcy Smith had two of Mt. Blue’s seven doubles in a 17-10 victory over Lawrence in KVAC action Tuesday.

Allen belted a solo home run in the first inning to ignite the Cougars’ outburst. Michaela Yeaton, Kelly Yardley and Sara Turner each chipped in with a single and double for Mt. Blue (3-8).

Alexa Howard scattered eight hits and struck out six for the victory. Jess Poulin and Sophie Lindsey hit doubles for Lawrence.

Baseball

Rangeley 9, Buckfield 8

RANGELEY – Zach Abbott coaxed Isaac Smith into a fly out to center field with the bases loaded in the seventh inning to preserve Rangeley’s 9-8 East-West Conference baseball win Tuesday over Buckfield.

Buckfield (2-9) scored two runs in the ninth inning, nearly completing its rally from an 8-3 deficit in the third innings. Smith’s home run highlighted a 19-hit attack for the Bucks. Cody White and Dalton Hart each had four hits for Buckfield. Jarek Boyd belted a pair of doubles.

Abbott had a triple and was a repeat hitter along with Ross Gordon, Alex Rodway and Zeke Hall for Rangeley.

Mt. Blue 9, Lawrence 7

FARMINGTON — Nick Hilton hit a two-run single to highlight a five-run outburst in the third inning and lead Mt. Blue to a 9-7 victory over Lawrence in a KVAC baseball game Tuesday.

The Cougars (4-10) opened up a 7-1 lead after three innings, but had to hold on in the final inning when Lawrence (3-10) scored five runs and had the tying run at the plate before pitcher Shane Smith recorded the final out. Smith finished with seven strikeouts and two walks.

Alec Wallace led Mt. Blue with three hits, while Hilton, Smith and Matt Crowley added two hits apiece. Matt Woodbury hit a solo home run for Lawrence.
