1921 – 2010

AUBURN — Dorothy R. Levesque, 88, of 194 Central Avenue, Lewiston, died Tuesday, May 25, at Clover Healthcare in Auburn.

Born in Lewiston on Sept. 7, 1921, she was the daughter of William and Antoinette Blais Gagne. Educated locally, she worked for many years in area shoe shops, retiring from Hannah Shoe, and then for several years did child care out of her home. On May 29, 1948, she married Raymond B. Levesque. After her husband’s retirement, they spent the next decade traveling and visiting relatives out of state. She was a member of Holy Family Church, Prince of Peace Parish.

She is survived by her loving husband of almost 62 years, Raymond, of Lewiston; a daughter, Rita Desjardins, and her husband, Russell, of Lewiston; a son, Bertrand, of Lewiston; two sisters, Irene Gietzen of Lewiston and Madeline Broadhurst of Gorham; two brother-in-laws, Marcel Levesque and his wife, Therese, of Illinois and Roger Levesque of Florida; a sister-in-law, Gwendolyn Levesque of Texas; four grandchildren, Amy Cronkhite and her husband, Scott, Keith Desjardins and his wife, Nicole, and David and Matthew Levesque; three great-grandchildren, Ashley and Gavin Cronkhite and Avaya Desjardins, and one more on the way.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, William and Lucien; two sister-in-laws, Theresa and Eunice Gagne; and a brother-in-law, Richard Levesque.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Darleen Miller for all her compassion and care, and to the staff on Side 2 of Clover Healthcare for all their support and loving care over the past 4½ years.
