PORTLAND — John Tesh, a full-time musician, world-renowned figure in the entertainment and broadcasting industries — and popular radio host/dispenser of advice for everyday life — will perform live in concert at South Portland Auditorium.

Tickets will go on sale Friday, June 4. They will be available at Porttix.com, by calling 842-0800 and at Porttix at the Merrill Auditorium box office.

Tesh co-hosted the “Entertainment Tonight” television show for 10 years, leaving in 1996 to pursue his musical career full time. While working at “ET,” Tesh, a composer, recording artist and musician who plays piano, keyboards and trumpet, toured briefly with his good friend Yanni, doing about 12 shows.

Three of Tesh’s releases,” A Deeper Faith,” “Christmas Worship” and “Power of Love” earned a spot on the Billboard Pop and Christian Music charts, according to his website, www.tesh.com. “Power of Love” was nominated for a 2003 Grammy for Best Pop Instrumental Album.

Tesh’s family-friendly CD and DVD, “Red Rocks Platinum,” was also a hit national TV special. And, according to his website, his first live “Red Rocks” concert from 1993 was a best-selling and RIAA Gold-certified CD.

Over a career spanning more than 25 years, Tesh has gained notoriety as a respected news anchor, broadcaster and today is one of the most successful syndicated radio show hosts in the country with “The John Tesh Radio Show: Music and Intelligence for Your Life.” The the award-winning show is heard on 350-plus stations nationwide.

The concert, presented by radio station 94.9 WHOM, will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 22. The South Portland auditorium is at 637 Highland Ave.
