AUBURN – Evergreen Technology is the only remaining undefeated team in the Auburn ,men’s softball league after an 11-5 victory over Team Argo.

In front of the team sponsor watching from the stands, every Evergreen player contributed early and throughout the game. Team defense and pitching by Jeff Dion lead the way. A 6-4-3 double play in the fourth killed an Argo and helped set the tone for the game.

Joe Locke continued his hot hitting, knocking in 5 runs with two doubles. Evergreen (5-0) next takes Tribou Field on Tuesday to battle L/A Fire.

NAPA 8, Marauders 5

AUBURN – NAPA Auto Parts continued to sizzle Tuesday night at Pettingill Park, pulling out an 8-5 win over the Marauders, NAPA has won three straight games to move to 4-1.

Both teams started slowly in the sweltering heat, and the game remained scoreless until the third inning. In the top of that inning, NAPA’s bats broke out for five runs on six hits. NAPA  scored two more in the fifth and one in the sixth to enter the last inning with a commanding 8-0 lead.

Held to four hits until the seventh, the Marauders put on a valiant charge with five runs on seven hits. NAPA’s defense steadied itself, however, and the game ended on a ground ball to shortstop Kevin Pontbriand.

Dave Pontbriand led the way for NAPA, going 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Kasey Clark and Chris Therriault each went 2-for-3. Clark scored twice and had 3 RBIs, while Therriault also crossed the plate twice. Kevin Pontbriand chimed in with a 2-for-4 performance, including a double, an RBI and two runs scored. NAPA also had help from Anthony Clark, who went 1-for-2 with a walk, a run scored and an RBI.
