AUBURN — The newly formed Auburn/Lewiston Chapter of the Weston A. Price Foundation will present a free workshop entitled, “Nourishing Traditional Diets,” from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 159 Pleasant St.

The foundation is a nonprofit charity founded in 1999 to disseminate the research of nutrition pioneer Dr. Weston Price, whose studies of isolated non-industrialized peoples established the parameters of human health and determined the optimum characteristics of human diets.

The foundation is dedicated to restoring nutrient-dense foods to the human diet through education, research and activism. It supports a number of movements that contribute to this objective including accurate nutrition instruction, organic and biodynamic farming, pasture-feeding of livestock, community-supported farms, honest and informative labeling, prepared parenting and nurturing therapies.

Eleven principles of healthy traditional diets based on the pioneering work of Price will be presented along with the food choices and food preparation techniques of healthy non-industrialized peoples from around the world.

The presentation will be narrated by Andi Locke Mears from CALM HealthWorks. The program is free, however donations for the chapter will be accepted. For more information, call 784-7287.
