DEAR SUN SPOTS: Does anyone have a male cocker spaniel that they can no longer care for? We are looking for a white cocker with buff ears and buff patches. He must be neutered, under the age of 5, healthy, playful and friendly with other dogs. We have a large fenced-in yard and can give him a good life.

ANSWER: Many breeds have groups that specialize in rescue and rehabilitation of unwanted or maltreated pets. For cocker spaniels, you can contact Cocker Spaniel Rescue of New England, P.O. These groups do terrific and much-needed work, saving dogs from puppy mills and neglectful and abusive homes. It sounds like you could offer a wonderful home to one of these cocker spaniels.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Governor’s Restaurant, 1185 Lisbon St., has finished up its second annual April campaign to support the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society at 55 Strawberry Ave. During the month of April, we raised $1,300, which included 10 percent of the total sales from April 19, staff donations, cash donations by our guests and T-shirt and sweatshirt sales for the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society.

That total doesn’t count another $200 plus in donation of supplies, including at least 50 pounds of food and 30 pounds of litter that the GAHS can use for its mission. We would like to thank all of you who helped us in support of them.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have an older model Bolens snow blower that runs fine except for one issue. No matter how long I use it, the engine keeps revving up and down even when the choke is wide open. I think it may be an adjustment problem, but I know nothing about small engine repair work.

I am hoping one of your readers would be willing to help me out with it. I have been unemployed for almost two years now and cannot afford to take it to a shop, nor do I have a pickup truck.
