I hope citizens of Poland will vote in favor of the upcoming referendum question on June 8 to preserve some open space on town-owned property, known as the Bragdon Hill Project.

I was born and grew up in Lewiston. I lived near outer College Street and Central Avenue, near what was the fairgrounds. Believe it or not, there were many fields, woods and pasture land in that area. It was considered “country.”

Now that land has been completely developed and houses are everywhere.

Sadly, I see the same thing happening in Poland.

Let’s not let that happen to this beautiful town we call Poland. Let’s preserve at least a small bit of open land for our children and our grandchildren. They will look back one day and thank us for it.
