AUBURN – Auburn Fire Fighters’ powerful offense got back on track in a 16-11 victory over Austin’s in Auburn Suburban Little League major baseball division play.
Powerful hitting by Noah Moreshead (2-for-2), Noah Perron (4-for-5), Noah Yarnevich (3-for-5) and Austin Cox (3-for-4) staked AFF to a 16-4 lead entering the final inning.
AFF scored in every inning. Shammond Thomas, Caleb Yarnevich, Tyler Blanchard and Kodi Berube provided additional hits. Austin Cox pitched four strong innings to hold off the Austin’s attack. Brandon Varney handled the pitching responsibilities for Austin’s, which rallied in the sixth inning on the strength of hits by Justin Keaney and Alex Breton.
HRH edged East Auburn in a 5–3 major division thriller. Jean David Hurd was the hero for HRH with a two-run, walk-off home run in the bottom of the sixth. Hurd’s first career home run landed in the trees well beyond the left field fence.
Other offensive standouts for HRH were Cole Butler and Brandon Knapp with three hits each. Llewelyn Jensen had two hits for East Auburn. Brandon Knapp and Jensen turned in fine pitching performances for HRH and East Auburn, respectively.
Dillingham and Son picked up two hard-fought minor league wins.
Seth Dyer had three hits, including a double, for Dillingham in a victory over M&P Auto. Storm Jipson also had three hits and seven putouts at first base. Brendan Whitman, Nate Mcbride and Tristen Stevens all had two hits for Dillingham. Drew Bannet had a double for M & P Auto Parts, while Hunter Langlois lashed out four hits.
Stevens and Dylan Sellinger had the big bats for Dillingham with two hits apiece in a thrilling 8-5 win over Pat’s Pizza. Giles Paradie and Josh White each scored two runs. Marshall Chadbourne was 3-for-3 for Pat’s, including a monster double. Ben Cassidy was lights out on the mound for Pat’s Pizza. Cassidy added two hits.
