Calling for more public input, the Auburn City Council on Monday accepted a first reading of a resolve that would allow bottle clubs to operate until 3 a.m.

The current ordinance specifies that such clubs close by 1 a.m., but Wayne Koss, who runs the Metra on Minot Avenue, has asked the council to extend the hours of operation so he can remain in business.

Ward 3 Councilor David Adams moved to change the time to 3 a.m. but said the action was intended to muster public comment on the issue and did not necessarily reflect the way he would vote on the resolution’s second reading, scheduled for the June 17 council meeting.
