NORWAY — Western Maine Health Vice President of Performance Improvement, Kathy Bonney, RN, MSN, has announced that Stephens Memorial Hospital was recently honored by the Oxford County Local Emergency Planning Committee for outstanding efforts in planning, reporting and exercising during the 2009 calendar year.

SMH was honored at a meeting of the LEPC which took place on May 25 at the Woodstock Fire Department. Bonney, Bob Hand, director of PACE Paramedic Service, and Michael Hatch, safety and security officer, were on hand to receive the thanks of the committee.

The LEPC chairperson shared that Stephens Memorial Hospital has exceeded the requirements of training and exercising safety drills, which included being the first hospital in the state to set up an alternate care site.
