BRIDGTON — The Molly Ockett Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, of Fryeburg and the Anna Stickney Chapter of North Conway will meet for the eighth annual joint meeting at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 9, at the Bridgton summer home of Jane Lasselle, Anna Stickney chapter regent. Members of both chapters will convene for a business meeting and a potluck lunch.

The speaker will be the Maine organization’s regent-elect, Virginia Spiller, from York. She will speak about Real Daughters, early DAR members whose fathers actually served the country in the American Revolution.

At the meeting, the group will welcome several local women who will carry on the tradition of keeping the history of the Oxford Hills and Fryeburg area alive through active involvement with the local schools.

Molly Ockett Chapter offers a scholarship to students pursuing higher education in either nursing, physical therapy or occupational therapy as well as various student awards for good citizenship and excellence in the study of American history.

The national organization promotes historic preservation, patriotism and education through the work of 32 related committees. There are more than 168,000 members in over 3,000 chapters nationwide.
