FRYEBURG — The board of directors of the Universalist Chapel in North Fryeburg have announced that Violet Eastman, daughter of the deceased Edward and Clara Mills from Fryeburg, has been called to serve the chapel in North Fryeburg for the summer season, beginning June 6.

Eastman attended Bangor Theological Seminary for Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry Studies, graduating in 1996. She served as chaplain at Eastern Maine Medical Center, Bangor, and Penobscot Valley Hospital, Lincoln, while attending seminary. She interned as associate pastor to the Conway Village Congregational Church under the Rev. Fred Gagnon III, and served as interim chaplain for the Memorial Hospital and Merriman House, North Conway, N.H.

In1996, she was called as pastor and teacher to the Campton Congregational Church, Campton, N.H., where she was ordained in 1997. Eastman is well-known locally for her unique and uplifting funeral and graveside services. She also officiates at weddings, baptisms and recommitment services.

She is married to Peter Eastman, son of Conrad and Sarah Eastman of Fryeburg. They have one son, Jeb, and two grandsons, Patrick and Daegan. The Eastmans will live in their seasonal cottage in Madison, N.H., for the summer.
