DEAR SUN SPOTS: Alley Cats L/A is a small organization associated with the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society. Our goal is to help people who are feeding outdoor stray and abandoned cats. We help caretakers get the cats neutered, ultimately reducing the size of the colony.

To raise money and awareness, we are having a yard sale at the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society on Strawberry Avenue in Lewiston on July 17 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. We are currently looking for donated items to sell and would greatly appreciate any help we can get. For more information, please call the GAHS at 783-2311.— Melanie via e-mail

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Did you recently have a yard sale and have leftover items you don’t know what to do with? Have you done your spring cleaning and have things to get rid of but don’t want to bother with a yard sale? Why not donate them to a great cause?

Tommy’s Feral Feline Friends is having a yard sale on July 30 and 31 (rain dates are Aug. 6 and 7) at Farris Equipment, Route 202 in Greene, and would love to take those unused items off your hands.

Tommy’s is a nonprofit organization that cares for feral cats that would otherwise be euthanized or left to perish. Please help this caring, compassionate organization with your donations.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Meadowview Senior Complex is planning a day trip to Ogunquit on Wednesday, Aug. 25, leaving around 8:30 a.m. We still have places in the bus for anyone interested. We will be stopping at a mall in Wells (as many like to shop at Reny’s) and other stores.

Then we will go to Congdon’s Restaurant and Bakery, where you can order an eight-inch honey-dip (glaze) doughnut to take home.

We will attend the Ogunquit Playhouse, which is a professional musical theater, where we will see “Spamalot” and enjoy a lot of medieval merry-making with the delightfully zany musical lovingly ripped off from the internationally renowned comedy team’s “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.” This lavish production features the sumptuous Tony-nominated sets and costumes.

Prior to the play and during intermission, there is a nice area outside the theater with a gazebo and different drinks will be served.

For information concerning this trip, please call Bert Dutil at 786-2305 and leave a message. — Bert Dutil , badutil1@yahoo.com
