Distribution day

AUBURN — Auburn AC Serve, a part of Serve New England’s food and volunteer program, will have its next Distribution Day from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 10, at the Auburn Advent Christian Church, 263 Turner St., Whitney Street entrance. A Distribution Day will not be held during June.

Bridge play

LEWISTON — The Lewiston-Auburn Social Bridge Club winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on June 21 were as follows: Strata A, first, Lue Bilodeau and Luke Merry; second, Rosemarie Goodwin and Les Buzzell; third, Jan Arey and Linda Leotsakos; fourth, Eileen Potvin and Della Starbird.

Games are played at 9 a.m. every Monday and a partner is guaranteed. Call Rosemarie at 754-1431 for information about all duplicate bridge games in the area. The quarterly club championship will be played on Monday, June 28.

Talent competition

MECHANIC FALLS — The Down East Country Music Association will present its annual Western Division Talent Competition on Sunday, June 27, at the Silver Spur, Route 121. Auditions will begin at 10 a.m.

Admission is $5 for members and seniors; $6 for nonmembers; $2 for under 12. There will be a food bar, 50/50 drawings and raffles. For more information, call Jackie at 793-8884.

Explore welding

TURNER — SAD 52 Adult and Community Education will present “Exploring Welding” beginning Thursday, July 8. Students will learn the basics of MIG and stick welding, horizontal, vertical and overhead safety procedures. Participants must bring a welding cap.

Cooking series

LEWISTON — St. Mary’s Nutrition Center of Maine will host a four week Good Cooks Series for adults, giving an introduction to healthy, affordable and practical cooking. The series is open to all residents of Lewiston-Auburn. Classes will run from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Mondays, July 12 to Aug. 2, at the Nutrition Center of Maine, 208 Bates St.

There will be free food and giveaways for folks who attend all four classes. Participation is limited to 12 adults. Call 753-5466 to register. There is a suggested donation of $5 to $15. For more information, e-mail [email protected] or call 513-3847 and ask for Larkin.
