Tim Pettingill of Lisbon Falls, who hiked the Appalachian Trail from June 11 to Nov. 21, 2009, was the guest speaker at Lisbon Historical Society on May 12. He displayed items from his hike, including photographs, his zip stove, hiking poles, back pack, guide book and his well-worn boots and shoes. He said that his wife, Sybilla, and sons, Benjamin and John, helped during the hike by driving to different locations near the trail and supplied Pettingill with needed food and dry clothes. Even with all the food he ate, he said he still lost 50 pounds during his hike.
