Bridge results

LEWISTON — The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on June 22 at the Multi-Purpose Center. Winners in Flight A were: first, Claire Lyons and Marta Clements; second, Ron and Connie Reynolds; third, Larry Fortier and Roger Labbe; fourth, Luke Merry and Mike Quinn; fifth, Patricia Garcia and David Lock.

Winners in Flight B were: first, Ron and Connie Reynolds; second, Larry Fortier and Roger Labbe. Winners in Flight C were Larry Fortier and Roger Labbe. A quarterly club championship game will be held at 8 a.m. Tuesday, June 29, at the center.

The club also met on June 23 at Schooner Estates in Auburn. Winners were: first, Richard Balian and Bob Berry; second, Ron and Connie Reynolds; third, Jeanine Kivus and Lucille Theriault. A quarterly club championship game will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, at Schooner Estates. A partner is guaranteed at both games. Rebekahs outing

POLAND — The annual outing for all Odd Fellows and Rebekahs and their families and friends will be held from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, at the Thorpe family cottage and grounds, on the shore of Tripp Lake, 50 Megquier Hill Rd., West Poland.

The activities directors of the Odd Fellows and Rebekahs Home on Caron Lane will bring residents in the bus and van. Everyone should bring a picnic lunch. There is a beach, a swimming area and an opportunity to play games in the field. There will be musical entertainment. A golf cart will be available for transportation to the grove for those who need it. Clyde Thorpe started the annual outing in the 1960s.

Bible school

NEW GLOUCESTER — The New Gloucester Bible Church, located on Route 100, will host a free “Solar Express” Vacation Bible School for children ages 4 to 12. The program will run from 9 a.m. to noon, July 12 to 16.

There will be arts and crafts, games, gymnastics, snacks, Bible lessons, songs and a penny contest. For more information, contact Pastor Dan at 926-3140.

Benefit supper

LEWISTON — A benefit spaghetti dinner to help raise funds for Delanie (Lanie) Doran, daughter of Andrea Goulet, a 1996 graduate of Mt. Ararat High School, formerly of Topsham, and Noah Doran, will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 25, at the Elks Lodge, 1675 Lisbon Road. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children. The family now resides in Hawaii.

On April 18, Lanie was taken to the emergency room in Kamuela, Hawaii, as she was unable to hold down liquids due to a cold. While at the hospital, she became critically ill and was air lifted to Honolulu to be treated at the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at the Honolulu Medical Center. Due to a lack of oxygen to her brain, Lanie has suffered a brain injury and the extent of the injury has not been determined.

Lanie will be in the hospital a couple more weeks. Upon discharge, Lanie will continue to need intensive medical care. For more information on the supper, contact Joyce Gagnon at 754-6887 or Diane Hughes at 841-5087
