CARTHAGE — New England Celtic Arts will host the Irish band Fishing with Finnegan, four siblings known for their spirited stage shows, at Skye Theatre Performing Arts Center on Sunday, July 11.

The group will also perform Monday, July 12, at the North New Portland Community Church. This will be the first of two concerts shared by the two venues this season.

With the completion and renovation of the bell tower at the North New Portland Community Church, pastor Scott Planting and committee decided to open the church to a variety of community events. Planting asked Skye Theatre Director Phill McIntyre about the possibility of presenting Celtic artists in North New Portland as part of the Maine Celtic Tour put on by by New England Celtic Arts. Fishing With Finnegan was selected to be the first group, with The Press Gang to perform on Monday Aug. 9.

The four siblings Ryan, born and raised in northern Rhode Island, have always been inclined toward the arts in general and music in particular. Being home schooled, they found their closest friends in one another, and continue to be a tight-knit family.

Formed in the late summer of 2006, Fishing with Finnegan is known for its infectious enthusiasm and family-friendly performances. The band released a self-titled album in 2008.

Show time is at 7 p.m. at both venues. Preshow jam sessions are planned at 6:15 p.m. when audience members are encouraged to bring instruments and jam for a few minutes with the artists.

Skye Theater is at 2 Highland Drive. The North New Portland Community Church is at 14 Hancock Pond Road in North New Portland. Tickets are $10 at Skye Theatre; $5 or $15 for the family at NNPCC. For tickets, call Skye at 562-4445 or NNPCC at 778-4705.
