SCARBOROUGH — Arlene Bolduc of South Portland, died the afternoon of June 22, at the Gosnell House surrounded by family and friends, after a long illness.

Arlene was born Sept. 29, 1934, a daughter of Richard Henry and Mary Louise Wahl Sommers. She was raised in Wellesley Hills, Mass., and graduated from Wellesley High School in 1952, and from Mount Ida College in Newton, Mass., in 1954.

In 1957, she married Murray A. Bolduc, DMD, from Lewiston and spent the rest of her life in the Portland area, settling in South Portland in 1960.

She worked as a laboratory technician at the New England Baptist Hospital in Brookline, Mass., and at Mercy Hospital in Portland, before raising her four daughters. Arlene was a charter member of the Maine Rose Society.

From 2001 to 2008, Arlene attended the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program at the University of Southern Maine. She spoke very highly of her friends there.

Arlene is survived by her four daughters, Karen Bolduc, her partner, Alex Jackson and children, Hannah Marie, Tori Jayne and Rian Anthony Bolduc-Jackson of Raymond; Kim Knowles, her husband, Frank and son, Taylor Bolduc Knowles of South Portland; Kathleen Amoroso, her husband, John and son, Vincent Murray Amoroso of South Portland; and Kerry Ouellet and her husband, John of Marshfield, Mass.; two sisters, Edith Kenyon and her husband, Payson, of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Helen Graham and her husband, Donald, of Clifton Park, N.Y.; one brother, Richard Sommers and his wife, Evelyn, of Hyannis, Mass.; many nieces and nephews; and a very dear friend, Don Britt of Gray.

She was predeceased by her husband of 40 years in 1998.
